Conditions for operation relate mainly to labour laws and regulations as well as occupational health and safety considerations.

    Working hours
    The normal working week consists of 45 hours, and maximum overtime allowed is 10 hours per week.

    Leaves
    For five day weeks, workers are allowed 14 days of annual leave and 18 days of sick leave on full pay. While for six day weeks, 16 days of annual leave and 21 days of sick leave on full pay are granted.

    Piece rate work
    Piece rate work should be paid 10% higher than basic rates of pay.

    End of Year Bonus
    A bonus equivalent to a twelfth of the earnings for that year must be paid every year.

    Transport
    Transport of workers has to be provided by the employers if the distance between work place and residence is greater than 3.2 km.

    Termination of employment
    Compensation for dismissal has to paid depending on the number of years spent in employment. If dismissal is not justified, then a worker has to be paid a sum equal to 6 times the amount severance paid.

    Occupational Health and Safety
    Every employer should provide protective equipment, eg boots, gloves, where applicable. A Health and Safety Officer should be appointed in all companies employing more than 100 workers, so as to comply with the safe conduct of work.
