Who owns this barcode?

The Global Electronic Party Information Registry (GEPIR) is a unique, internet-based service that gives access to basic contact information for companies that are members of GS1. Click here to access GEPIR to search by barcode or by company name .

Who is responsible for the Allocation and Responsibility of Branded Items?

Section 4.3.1.2.1 of the GS1 General Specification clearly stipulates that:
“The brand owner, the organisation that owns the specifications of the trade item regardless of where and by whom it is manufactured, is normally responsible for the allocation of the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN).”

When to change a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN)?

A separate unique GTIN must be allocated to every different variant of an item (e.g. colour, size, model, pack, size, style).
