Mauritius-Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA)

The Preferential Trade Agreement between Mauritius and Pakistan was signed on 30th July 2007, with the objective of strengthening the economic and commercial relationship between the two countries. Under the PTA, tariff concessions have been granted on a list of products of export interest to both parties.


The Agreement

Exporting to Pakistan

Tariff Preferences in Pakistan: A Mauritian exporter consigning goods to an importer in Pakistan can benefit from preferential tariffs on a number of products listed in Annex B: Pakistan Concession List to Mauritius.

Rules of Origin: The exporter must also ensure that his products satisfy the Rules of Origin to take advantage of the tariff preferences. Complete information on the Rules of Origin is available in Annex C: Rules of Origin.

Obtaining a Certificate of Origin: The Mauritius-Pakistan PTA Certificate of Origin is issued and approved by the Customs Department of the Mauritius Revenue Authority. More information on the Mauritius-Pakistan PTA CoO can be obtained from:

Scanned copies of the following documents are required for obtaining the Certificate of Origin:

1. Export Declaration
2. Export Invoice
3. Documentary evidence for raw materialsused (such as Import Declaration, Purchase Receipts, etc)
4. Costing Certificate signed by a Certified Accountant (if applicable)
5. Any other relevant information as may be required by Customs
 

Importing from Pakistan

Mauritian importers can benefit from preferential tariffs on various products originating from Pakistan - a list of these products is available in Annex A: Mauritius Concession List to Pakistan.
