Building Linkages to improve Intra-Africa Trade

Building Linkages to improve Intra-Africa Trade was the main theme of the Intra-Africa Trade Business Seminar held today, 18th November 2019 at Hennessy Park Hotel, Ebene, in the context of a business mission of a 15-member delegation from Kwa-Zulu Natal.  

 

Organized by the Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal, in collaboration with the MCCI, EDB and South African High Commission, the event offered an ideal platform for both South African and Mauritian business communities to exchange and share ideas for joint ventures.

 

The event was officially opened by the Ms Mbali Magagula, Chargé d’Affaires at the High Commission of the Republic of South Africa, who highlighted the similarities between the two countries and the various business opportunities that should be exploited by business people.

 

Mr. Barlen Pillay, Secretary General of the MCCI, addressed the audience and underlined the scopes of business that exist and stressed upon the consolidation of this cooperation.

 

The CEO of the Economic Development Board, Mr. François Guibert, seized this occasion to make a presentation on the Mauritius business climate and on the different investment opportunities in the country.

 

Mr. Bongani Dlamini, Board Member of TIKZN, put forward the objectives of the mission to Mauritius which includes the strengthening of the South-Africa – Mauritius collaboration in terms of concrete business ventures, be it in the financial sector, import and export and innovation.

 

The Mauritius business community also had the opportunity to get an overview of the different businesses that can be done in Kwa-Zulu Natal through a presentation made by Mr. Claude Moodley, Export Promotion Manager at the Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal.

 

The event ended with one-to-one business-to-business meetings between Mauritius operators and South African delegates.
