Benefits of Becoming a Member of MCCI

ADVOCACY

We defend and promote the interests of our Members to local, regional and international authorities by voicing their views and concerns. The overall aim being to foster economic liberalism and market-oriented policies.

Our actions include the following :

  • Defend and promote the interests of Members in bilateral, regional and international trade negotiations.
  • Work together with the authorities on trade facilitation projects aimed at improving the trading environment and reducing the cost of doing business.
  • Represent and defend the interests of Members on joint public private sector committees.
  • Prepare a Budget Memorandum that acts as an interface between Members of the MCCI and the Government for the inclusive economic development of Mauritius.

 

INFORMATION AND ADVICE

Information, expert advice and being constantly updated are important factors that help to contribute to the success of any business. We publish regular documents on economy, trade and law to keep Members informed of the latest trends and developments taking place locally, regionally and internationally.

Our other publications (MCCI Mag, MCCI News, Annual Report) provide useful business-related information to our Members.

We advise on :

  • Trade opportunities and how to access regional and international markets such as Europe, United States, SADC, COMESA, IOC
  • How to face adverse economic situations and indicate what avenues are potentially worth exploring.
  • The legal and regulatory aspects of doing business in Mauritius.

 

BUSINESS SUPPORT

As a business-support institution, we:

  • Assist Members in addressing and resolving specific barriers to trade encountered at national and regional levels.
  • Support and uphold the role of the local industrial sector.
  • Provide assistance and support to GS1 Mauritius Members and Industries by issuing barcodes.
  • Support the creation of enterprises in the industrial sector.
  • Work to improve the Doing Business environment for local entrepreneurs.
  • Host the Secretariat of Association Professionnelle des Transitaires, Outsourcing and Telecommunications Association of Mauritius and Association of Mauritian Manufacturers.

 

NETWORKING

Meeting people and building relationships are core factors that help to foster business growth. Through our connections with local, regional and international private/public institutions, we organize and also act as facilitator to enable our Members to participate and access business events and trade missions.

Our actions in Mauritius and abroad include : Informing Members about international trade events, seminars, forums, and training courses available; Organizing networking events for Members; Promoting cooperation with private sector organizations abroad; Providing a free subscription to Members in the MCCI Membership Directory and free access to the MCCI Business Club.

 

TRAINING

We are very much involved in training sector through the MCCI Business School situated at Ebène

The MCCI Business School offers, through a competent and dynamic teaching team, top-level courses supported by internships which provide gateways to the professions. Along with its partners, which include French Institutions such as l'IAE of Poitiers, the MCCI Business School ensures that the people trained have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their respective fields. A series of top-level conferences for corporates are held on a regular basis. Tailor-made short term courses for businesses, upon request, are also organized.

DISPUTE SETTLEMENT

Through our MCCI Arbitration and Mediation Center (MARC) we provide:

  • Quick and flexible settlement of disputes
  • Confidentiality of proceedings.
  • Accessibility to foreign and local economic operators.
  • Arbitration rules based on international Standards (ICC, UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules).
  • Close monitoring throughout the overall process, from the initial request to the final award.
  • Choice of arbitrator(s) by the parties to a dispute from a panel of national and international eminent professionals.

The MCCI Arbitration and Mediation Center (MARC) has entered into cooperation with arbitration centres in several countries. It is also a Member of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions.
