The Free Trade Agreement between Mauritius and Turkey entered into force on 1st June 2013. The FTA is partly based on the Interim Economic Partnership Agreement signed with the EU.
Tariff Preferences in Turkey: A Mauritian exporter can benefit from duty free access on all industrial products except for a list of 70 clothing items (Annex III) on which duties is being phased down over a period of 4 years. With respect to agricultural products, Mauritius has obtained concessions on a list of 46 products (Annex VI) including chilled fish, cut flowers, tropical fruits, sweet biscuits and preserved tuna.
Rules of Origin: The exporter must ensure that his products satisfy the Rules of Origin to benefit from tariff preferences. The Rules of Origin for the FTA are product-specific and can be accessed here.
Obtaining a Certificate of Origin: The Mauritius-Turkey FTA Certificate of Origin is issued and approved by Customs Department of the Mauritius Revenue Authority. For more information, please contact:

The online application for the Mauritius-Turkey FTA CoO can be made via the TradeNet System.
Scanned copies of the following documents are required for obtaining the Certificate of Origin:
1. Export Declaration
2. Export Invoice
3. Documentary evidence for raw materialsused (such as Import Declaration, Purchase Receipts, etc)
4. Costing Certificate signed by a Certified Accountant (if applicable)
5. Any other relevant information as may be required by Customs
Mauritian importers benefit from preferential tariffs on products other than those in the list of sensitive products provided that a valid Mauritius-Turkey FTA Certificate of Origin is submitted to Customs.
