The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Mauritius and Turkey was signed on 9 September 2011 in Istanbul. Turkey has offered duty-free and quota-free access on all industrial products except for a list of 70 clothing items on which duties will be phased down over a period of 4 years. As regards to the Mauritian offer, a tariff phase-down schedule and a list of sensitive products, which would be excluded from the tariff liberalisation process, have been agreed by the Turkish side. On the rules of origin, the EPA rules would be applied and the provision for both countries to cumulate origin with the EU has been included. The implementation date of the FTA still has to be agreed by both Governments.
