The meeting, held at the MCCI premises, saw the participation of members of the MCCI management team, including the Secretary General, Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Mrs. Rooma Narrainen, Head of Advocacy and Mrs Nishta Surajbali, Economist.

During the visit, Mrs. Hardowar provided a comprehensive overview of the MCCI, detailing its origins, mission, and various business units, such as the Mediation and Arbitration Center (Mauritius) Ltd, the MCCI Tax Refund Department, GS1 Mauritius, and the MCCI Business School.

Discussions revolved around potential areas of collaboration, particularly in the field of education.

The MCCI Business School emerged as a focal point for mutualisation with Egyptian universities, fostering academic exchanges, and facilitating student mobility.

Recognising the significance of arbitration and mediation in bolstering financial hubs like Mauritius and Egypt, both parties expressed keen interest in furthering negotiations, particularly concerning the Mauritius Arbitration and Mediation Center (MARC).

Trade relations also took center stage, with a particular emphasis on addressing trade barriers and standardisation issues.

H.E Mrs. Abir Alam Eldin highlighted the Embassy's efforts to establish a platform for resolving trade issues between Mauritius and Egypt, including Non-Tariff Barriers and product standardisation.

Proposed initiatives included the formation of a joint committee comprising representatives from both countries' business communities to expedite the resolution of trade and commercial issues.

Moreover, discussions delved into leveraging Mauritius' Preferential Trade Agreements with India and China to serve as a gateway for exports to the Asian markets, further expanding trade horizons.

The Secretary General of the MCCI emphasised the investment potential in sectors like aquaculture, paving the way for future collaborations aimed at boosting trade and commercial relations between Mauritius and Egypt.

The visit underscored the mutual commitment of both nations to deepen economic cooperation and foster sustainable growth, laying the groundwork for fruitful collaborations in the near future.
