Business updates

From 18 to 22 August 2026, the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) welcomed a business delegation from Zimbabwe, led by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), as part of a trade and investment mission aimed at deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation brought together close to 30 representatives from a broad range of sectors, including financial services and investment, agribusiness, manufacturing, renewable energy, real estate, tourism, mining, engineering and security, alongside government officials from Zimbabwe.

The highlight of the mission was the Business Forum held on 19 August at the Caudan Arts Centre, Port Louis. The event featured keynote addresses by Hon. Aadil Ameer Meea, Minister of Industry, SME and Cooperatives, and Hon. Hambyrajen Narsinghen, Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, and was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between MCCI and ZNCC, formalising a framework for cooperation between the two Chambers.

A panel discussion on strengthening Zimbabwe-Mauritius trade and investment brought together private sector voices from both countries to share perspectives on regional growth, market expansion and strategic partnerships.

The forum also included a B2B matchmaking session, giving Mauritian and Zimbabwean businesses the opportunity to explore concrete areas of collaboration.

The mission continued with a series of site visits on 20 August, giving delegates first-hand exposure to Mauritius' industrial and technology landscape, including a visit to Phoenix Beverages' bottling plant in Phoenix and to Ebène Cybercity's technology hub.
