The MCCI Signs MoU with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Monday 30 June 2025.

The ceremony, held at Mauritius Network Services Ltd in Ebene, was attended by H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, who led a delegation that included H.E. Sheikh Majid Faisal Khalid Al Qasimi, First Vice Chairman SCCI, H.E. Ziyad Mohmoud Khairalla Alhaji Honorary Secretary & Board Member, H.E. Mohamed Ali Marzook Bin Kamil Board Member and Director of Bin Kamil Group, H.E. Dr. Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations, SCCI), Dr. Lina Al Samkari, Founder of Al Hanan, and Ms. Mai Sultan Bin Haddah Head of International Cooperation Section, SCCI.

The delegation represented key sectors including healthcare, banking and finance, real estate, education, hospitality, manufacturing, and investments.

The MCCI was represented by Mr. Charles Harel, President, Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Secretary General, and MCCI Council Members.

The event was also attended by representatives from the Economic Development Board including Mr. Sanjay Bhunjun, Chairperson), Mr. Mahen Kundasamy, CEO, as well as members of the business community.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr Charles Harel and H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais.

This partnership comes at an opportune time, coinciding with the MCCI's 175th anniversary year and following the recent entry into force of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Mauritius and the UAE on 1 April 2025.

The MoU opens pathways for collaboration in several strategic areas, including triangular cooperation with India, financial services partnerships, tourism investment, pharmaceutical sector development, and leveraging Mauritius as a platform for accessing African markets under various trade agreements.

Open discussions and a business networking session followed the MoU signature.
