The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade in collaboration with the Ministry of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives and the US Embassy in Mauritius organised an AGOA Preparedness Workshop for SMEs which was held on Wednesday 5th April 2017 at the Westin Turtle Bay Hotel, Balaclava.

The objectives of the Workshop were to examine the constraints affecting product diversification on the US market and to help SMEs to be aware of the existing opportunities provided under the AGOA.

The workshop focussed on three sectors namely Apparel, Home Décor and Fashion accessories and Specialty Food and was preceded by a stock taking exercise by three US experts from the East Africa Trade Hub.

Some 100 participants, including entrepreneurs and representatives from the public and private sectors, attended the workshop. The workshop also comprised panel discussions and sharing of experiences with successful AGOA exporters.
