Business updates

Cabinet has agreed, on 7 September 2018, to the amendments being made to the Energy Efficiency (labelling of Regulated Machinery) Regulations 2017. 

The amendments are as follows:

a) extend the moratorium given to suppliers to sell their existing stock and register appliances with the Energy Efficiency Management Office from 1 April 2018 to 30 June 2019;

b) require that only importers and distributors, instead of all retailers, should register with the Energy Efficiency Management Office;

c) provide for submission of registration forms and related documents in electronic format; 

d) strengthen the provisions for enforcement of the Regulations.

The MCCI will circulate the amendments to the Regulations once available.
