The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) wishes to draw the attention of its Members and the public to a fraudulent document circulating under the title "SME Grant Programme," attributed to the Ministry of Industry, SME and Cooperatives. The document lists the MCCI's logo among a set of purported "partners." The MCCI confirms that it is not affiliated with this scheme in any way and did not authorise the use of its name or logo in this document.

On 3 August 2026, the Ministry of Industry, SME and Cooperatives issued an official urgent communiqué (hyperlink communiqué of Ministry here) alerting the public, and in particular SME sector operators in Mauritius and Rodrigues, to this scam. The Ministry states that the name of the Hon. Minister of Industry, SME & Cooperatives and public officials are being used to deceive individuals into providing personal information and financial details under the false pretence of a grant approval process.

The Ministry has confirmed that no such approval grants committee exists within the SME Division and has made a strong appeal to the public not to complete any form linked to this matter or disclose personal information. Any person who has already corresponded in relation to this scheme is asked to immediately stop all communication with the parties involved.

The Ministry has advised the public to rely only on verified and official sources for information regarding government initiatives, financial grants, or schemes, and to report any suspicious correspondence to the relevant authorities.

The MCCI reiterates that it did not partner with, endorse, or contribute in any way to the "SME Grant Programme" document referenced above, and advises its Members to disregard it entirely.
