Self-Certification of Origin for Exports to Switzerland and Norway under the GSP

Self-Certification of Origin for Exports to Switzerland and Norway under the GSP

Trade 18 Oct 2018

Exporters to Switzerland and Norway are informed that, as from 1st January 2019, they will be able to self-certify the origin of their products exported to Switzerland and Norway under the Registered Exporter System (REX) of the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP).

The REX is the system of certification of origin of goods that applies under the GSP for exports to Switzerland and Norway. It is based on a principle of self-certification whereby exporters will themselves issue 'statements on origin'. To be entitled to issue a 'statement on origin', an exporter will have to be registered in the database of the Trade Division of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection.

The REX system will progressively and completely replace the current system of origin certification based on certificates of origin and on invoice declarations issued under certain conditions by exporters. More information on the REX system can be accessed here.

For registration, exporters are requested to contact Mr. Coopoomootoo or Ms. Multra from the Trade Division of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection on Tel: 405-1399, email: td@mail.govmu.org
