Elimination of Customs Duties on Products Originating from Reunion Island

The Customs Tariff (Amendment of Schedule) Regulations 2015 provide for the elimination of customs duties on all products originating from Reunion Island. The new regulations published in the Government Notice No. 124 of 2015 came into force on 1 July 2015.

Under the new regulations, all products imported from Reunion Island are duty-free provided that the following conditions are met:
•    The products must comply with the Rules of Origin as specified in the Interim Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
•    For products specified in the Exclusion List of the EPA, they need to undergo sufficient workings and processing in Reunion Island in accordance with Annex II of the Interim EPA in order to benefit from duty free access.
•    All goods must be accompanied by a Movement Certificate EUR 1 issued by the Customs Authorities in Reunion Island.
