Mauritius – Tanzania: Consolidating business between the two countries

Cooperation 27 Mar 2017

The Mauritius-Tanzania Trade and Investment Forum was held on Friday 24 March 2017, in the presence of Prime Ministers of Mauritius and of Tanzania, Hon. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Hon. Kassim Majaliwa, respectively.

During his speech, Mr. Azim Currimjee urged Mauritian business people to exploit the business ventures that are available in Tanzania, namely in agriculture, manufacturing, fishing, ICT, and infrastructure development.

Hon. Kassim Majaliwa expressed the wish that Mauritian entrepreneurs seize the wide scopes of investment available in Tanzania. He also mentioned that with an annual growth of 7%, Tanzania represents a land of successful investment opportunities, especially in tourism, in the industrial and mining sectors, and in the Services sector, such as Finance and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

The Mauritian Prime Minister also encouraged further cross-border trade and investment as this will boost the economic growth of both countries.

The Mauritius-Tanzania Trade and Investment Forum, organised jointly by the Honorary Consulate of the United Republic of Tanzania, the MCCI and the Board of Investment, was the ideal platform for both Mauritian and Tanzanian business operators for networking and further discuss about the investment opportunities available.
