To celebrate its Silver Jubilee, GS1 Mauritius unveiled its forthcoming actions

This year, GS1 Mauritius is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. 

 

To mark the event, a press conference was organised on Thursday 31 October 2019 to apprise all stakeholders on the achievements of GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD as well as the forthcoming actions to further support the business community in various sectors.

 

During the event, the President of GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD, Mr. Guillaume Hugnin, provided an overview of the events which marked the celebrations of the Silver Jubilee.  Among the achievements this year, the President reminded the press that GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD had successfully negotiated Public-Private Partnerships with public authorities to provide financial schemes to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to acquire GS1 Barcodes to gain easier access new markets.

 

Furthermore, he emphasized on the forthcoming actions to pursue GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD’s efforts to accompany the business community in their endeavour to continuously reduce costs, solve business challenges, innovate, deliver exceptional efficiency and access new markets in several key sectors.

 

He reiterated GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD’s commitment to support the business community in implementing food traceability and product recall as one of the priorities. He apprised members present that a series of activities would be organised shortly on this important topic.

 

GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD’s efforts will also be pursued to enable the healthcare sector to adopt and implement GS1 Standards to identify medicines, medical devices as well as patients to enable cost reductions, increase in efficiency as well as ensure patient safety.

 

The President also announced that the next GS1 MEMA Regional Forum 2020 will be held in Mauritius. GS1 MEMA region regroups all GS1 Member Organisations from Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa.  During the last Regional Forum 2019, held in Dubai, following a proposal from GS1 Mauritius, it was unanimously decided that next year the Forum would be held in Mauritius.  The President of GS1 Global, Mr Miguel Lopera would be present on the occasion.

 

During the Forum, GS1 Member Organisations will meet to share the best practices implemented in the region as well as to define the strategic plan for the forthcoming years.  GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD would seize the opportunity of the presence of GS1 African counterparts to organise a series of activities to enable the Mauritian business community to be apprised of the adoption and implementation of GS1 Standards in the region and to share knowledge.

 

 

GS1(MAURITIUS) LTD’s corporate video was also launched during this event. The video showcases how the business community can innovate with the endless opportunities with GS1 Standards.
